SPAM Recovery Instructions |
|
| |
| The newest version of antivirus/antispam that we have
installed on our servers provides additional functionality above and beyond
our prior versions. SPAM will continue to be filtered, but users can
now review all of their filtered email and have any emails incorrectly
marked as spam to be retrieved. Outgoing mail is not, however,
filtered in any way. |
| |
| How it Works... |
| When an email is received into the system, it is compared
to a complex filter list. If the email address matches a known spam email
address, the email is moved to a special folder called 'spam'. If the
email is suspected to be spam, but the software is unsure, the software will append the word "SPAM?:" to the
beginning of the subject line and deliver the email normally to your inbox.
NOTE: The server will hold all email marked as
SPAM in the respective folder for each user for 15 days! ALL email in
the SPAM folder older than 15 days WILL BE DELETED! It is YOUR
responsibility to check this folder if you feel that you may have email that
was improperly marked as SPAM. |

| How to Access Your SPAM Messages... |
| |
|
1. Pull up a web browser and type in your domain names mail
server address.
Example: If your domain name is called
www.compdevsys.com You would type in
http://mail.compdevsys.com
|
|
2. When the login screen appears, type in your login name
and password
Example: Your name is James Smith You would type in james.smith as your login name

|
|
3. On the left side of the window, you will see a new
folder called 'spam'. It will display in blue parentheses how many
unread spam messages you have on the server. Select this folder by
left-clicking on the folder name.
 |
|
4. Review the emails as necessary to determine if any are
legitimate. Use the icons to go through the list of pages.

|
|
5. When you find an email that is not SPAM, select the
email and then select the Move/Copy Icon. A small folder list window
will appear. Select the Inbox from the list, and select the move
button. The email will now be in your inbox, and will be downloaded
the next time you check your email from your computer.
