Technician (Level 1) Position
Location: Mechanicsburg, PA
Salary: 28,000 – 35,000 DoE (plus bonus opportunities)

Job Description
This position will be responsible for designing, upgrading, securing, maintaining new and existing client equipment, systems, networks and applications, research and development to help improve internal processes and procedures, as well as managing CDS networks, datacenter and security.
Normal hours of operation are 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday. To reduce downtime, evening and weekend work is necessary to provide after-hours support or complete projects and tasks as required by clients, existing contracts, or unexpected system downtime or failure.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support. This includes troubleshooting, break/fix, root cause analysis, and escalating the need for the implementation of preventative measures
  • Respond promptly to customer requests for support
  • Promptly notify management of any critical technical or customer service issues
  • Create prompt, clear, concise, and effective communication across all customers and teams
  • Create quality, detailed technical documentation of processes to assist other staff members
  • Adhere to CDS’s policy regarding attendance and punctuality to office and customer sites
  • Participate in CDS’s internal projects and company meetings as required
  • Work with consulting vendors and partners as required to achieve project and company goals
  • Communicate with clients in a professional manner, troubleshoot clients’ technical issues, and deliver a high level support experience
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Position Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year on-the-job setup, configuration, and support experience in one of the following:
    • Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems
    • Windows Desktop Operating Systems
    • Domains and security in Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, POP3, FTP, HTTP, TCP/IP
    • Comcast, Verizon DSL/FiOS, and Wireless Access Points and Routers
    • Cisco Routers
  • Strong writing & formatting skills; creating documents and emails and proofing
  • Excellent verbal skills; must be able to communicate effectively with people
  • Must be a good motivator for other team members
  • Must be accountable and have follow through
  • Good decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Must have a sense of urgency
  • Work must be thorough and accurate and able to perform research on a regular basis
  • Must be able to work independently and/or without constant supervision
  • Ability to travel to and from client locations independently, safely, and reliably
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds without assistance
  • Must have dependable transportation
  • Ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute
Position Preferences (but not required)
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting smart phones
  • Experience with end-to-end message flow and third party internal and hosted anti-spam providers
  • Knowledge of Cisco routers, firewalls, and devices
  • Server Virtualization
  • Exchange Server, SQL Server, Group Policy, and VPN experience
  • Advanced Networking skills: IP Structures, Routing, Configuration, and Design
